Book Stalls & Stands

Trade Food Craft Stands

As you may know, the Mirfield Show is a highly popular agricultural-based event in the Yorkshire area, and has had attendances over 12,000 in most years – so it is a great opportunity to raise the profile of or revenue for your business, organisation or charity. So whether you wish to apply for a Trade Stand, Food Concession or Craft Stall, Mirfield Show has pitches across the showground for everyone. Most past stall holders claim that the event is key in their calendar therefore applying on time is essential.

This means that stall space is always oversubscribed, often by 300%. Unfortunately many stall applicants will be disappointed, but ALL applicants will receive an email about the Committee’s decision on your application.

What does the Committee look for? It gives priority to local participants (but accepts others) and seeks to provide a large range of entertaining stalls and with unusual items sold at family-friendly prices. It also seeks to rotate stall holding so that applicants get a fresh chance every year and the same stalls might not appear each year. The deadline for applications this year is Wednesday 1st March 2017.

Book Stalls & Stands 2017

Trade/Field stands are a popular and important aspect of Mirfield Show. The stalls are generally based in the lower part of the showground near the main entrance, so are one of the first things that greets our visitors as they enter the show. The showground has pitches for around fifty trade stands and charity stalls covering various aspects from clothing to foods, saddleries to pet care, photographers to plants, plus much more.

You can apply for up to Four ALTERNATIVE stalls. For example, you would like a Premium stall, but if unsuccessful you would accept a full Field stall, and if still unsuccessful you would accept a Half-Stall, and if even that was unsuccessful you would make do with a No-vehicle stall . In that case tick ALL FOUR OF Premium Stall and Field stall and half-stall and No-Vehicle stall on the form. We will award you the largest we can.

Craft Stalls 2017

Craft stalls are a very popular and important and part of Mirfield Show. The stalls are located in 300 square meters of craft marquee which is based along the right hand side of the showground – a very impressive and welcoming tent that can be seen be visitors from all across the showground. The craft tent has pitches for around forty craft stalls covering various aspects from confectionery to meats, cheeses to preserves, jewellery to bags, books to crafts, plus much more. However, due to the huge increase in visitors to the show in recent years, the craft stalls have become very popular, with the last three years being heavily over-subscribed.

The craft tent is being managed by the highly respected craft organisation “Made in Yorkshire“. Established in organising art and craft shows around the region, this well know group have developed a reputation for playing host to some of the regions most talented designer-makers.  “Made in Yorkshire” will offer space to approximately forty craft producers, who design and make their products exclusively within the region. Demonstrating craft skills ranging from ceramics, photography, wood, art, jewellery and textiles, “Made in Yorkshire” encourages visitors to discover a region of talented crafters.

Demand for space in the craft tent is high and “Made in Yorkshire” encourages stall holders to apply as early as possible on the correct forms with details of your business or organisation and exactly what is to be sold on the stall. Anyone wishing to exhibit within the “Made in Yorkshire” Craft Tent needs to fill in 1) a booking form and 2) an exhibitor questionnaire, both of which can be downloaded from their website www.madeinyorkshire.org.uk.

Interested exhibitors (old and new!) need to submit both forms to be considered for the show. Allocations are based on a first-come-first served-basis until full but must meet the criteria of real homemade and handcrafted produce, visitor interest, local traders and what the stall will add to the overall show experience. We also limit bookings to a maximum of two stalls/tables and limit the number of similar types of stall.

Each application is for one craft pitch, which comprises a 2.5m frontage space, with electric and a table being an option to hire. There is an area of parking allocated for craft stalls behind the main marquee for those who need to replenish stock – but this is on a first-come first-served basis and once full then further vehicles will only be allowed to drop off before moving to the stall holder car park across the road at Moorlands Cricket Club.

Food Stalls 2017

Food stalls are an important and popular aspect of Mirfield Show. The concessions are generally based in the upper part of the showground around the food court, so are one of the most visible things that all visitors can see from across the showground. All applications are on a tender basis and were awarded for two years in 2016 for 2016 and 2017.

The showground has pitches for a bar, specialist coffee and ice-cream vendors, and 10 food stalls plus, covering various tastes from indian to vegetarian, barbecue to hog roast, plus much more. However, due to the huge growth of the show in recent years, the food stalls applications have become very popular, with the recent years being heavily over-subscribed. As much as we would love to accommodate all food stall requests, space is limited by the size of the showground, so to make the process fair for all we have changed our allocation policy.

This is very much a family event with lots of children attending. We are very keen that the catering offered gives good value-for-money, and so the prices you intend to charge will play an important part in our decision. Further, we require any increase in your prices in year 2 to be minimal, and we monitor this.

You may offer us more than one type of stall, but please make a bid for each. The criteria used by the Committee to select successful applicants are:

  • The amount of your bid (minimum £300)
  • Prices of your product to the public;
  • Attractiveness of your vehicle / stall
  • The need to offer a variety of food types at the show.

If you wish to provide a tender please send it to the address below. YOU MUST INCLUDE the following with your correspondence:

  • Your menu of items together with confirmed prices to be charged;
  • Details of any special site requirements (specify left or right opening);
  • Dimensions of space, including height if relevant (including towbar);
  • A Photograph (s) of your stall/vehicle is essential
  • Details of 2 other events you attended in the last 12 months;
  • Proof of valid Public Liability insurance and your Food Hygiene Rating (stars);
  • A declaration that you have read and accepted our Terms & Conditions.

All food stalls and concession must apply before 31st JANUARY 2016 with the correct details of their business, their menu and their prices and exactly what is planned on the stall. Offers will be made soon afterwards to successful applicants so unsuccessful stall holders can plan their year, with the final decision based not just on the tender value, but also on visitor interest, variety, prices, menu and local businesses. All correspondence except the signed application form is by email only. All applications are on a tender basis and were awarded for two years for 2016 and 2017. If accepted, you would be with the same fee applying in both years. Please note that competition for a place is fierce!

Each application is for one 7x5m field pitch, which as a guide will accommodate one standard food van. Please be aware that all that is supplied is the plot of grass – there is no electricity or water or electricity on site, and stall holders will need to bring all their own equipment. Please also be aware that if the food stall is towed on site, it must be unhooked and the vehicle removed to the parking area.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR POSTAL APPLICATION HAS ENOUGH POSTAGE ON IT. LETTERS WITH INSUFFICIENT POSTED ARE NOT DELIVERED BY THE POST OFFICE AND ARE NOT COLLECTED BY THE BOOKINGS TEAM AND MAY BE RETURNED BY THE POST OFFICE. PLEASE ALSO ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLICATION IS IN THE ENVELOPE YOU SEND. IT IS AMAZING HOW MANY EMPTY ENVELOPES WE RECEIVE AND WE DO NOT KNOW WHO FROM.
