CALLING ALL GROWERS AND GARDENERS... It’s that time of year again to start planning your flower and vegetable entries for this year’s Mirfield Family Agricultural Show, which will be held on Sunday 22nd August at the Showground in Mirfield.

Paul Vine, section manager, said “Last year we had a record 300 entries in the flower and vegetable sections – and this year there will be three new trophies on offer.”

“The first is the Ken Hey Memorial Trophy for most points in Dahlia classes, kindly donated by Mrs. Nancy Hey and in memory of her husband Ken who was one of the founder members of show.”

“The second and third trophies will also be given to the persons judged to have the best flower and vegetable exhibits in novice and children's classes. The range of classes should offer something for everyone - so start now in time for the show in August.”

Information for the flower and vegetable show, and all other classes, including the horse and pony show, fun dog show, domestic, rabbit and children’s classes, are now available on the website.

Preparations for also well under way for all the field and ring attractions to be held on the day. Committee Chair, Karen Bullivant said “Despite financially tough times, we had a fantastic day last year and the public came, joined in, and showed us their support – and therefore we are able to organise even more free and inexpensive field and ring attractions for this year – and as always, the admission for children will remain free.

For more information on Mirfield Show visit the re-launched website at www.mirfieldshow.com where you can find out how to book a craft stall (unfortunately all field and food stalls are now fully booked), advertise in the showday programme, or support the show with help or sponsorship.
