Superfast next generation broadband for Mirfield

Superfast next generation broadband for Mirfield residents

Local people of Mirfield are poised to discover the good things that superfast broadband can bring!

High speed broadband means you can multi-stream news, information, music and films on several devices at the same time, communicate with friends and family around the world, apply for jobs, save money online using banking and shopping services, access news and learning. Mirfield residents who currently only receive maximum broadband speeds of around 6 to 8Mbps, are set to encounter a whole new online world!

Ten new green fibre broadband cabinets are being built so that local households and businesses can connect to the exciting technology. The work is being carried out as part of the Superfast West Yorkshire and York broadband programme, jointly funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, BT, European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 and central government. Eighty-five thousand more homes and businesses now have access to better, faster broadband as a result of the programme.

If you’re in an upgraded area, your access to fibre-optic broadband service is not automatic. You need to contact your internet service provider (ISP) to ask about an upgrade or go online to compare offers available from different providers to find the best deal for you.

We’re sponsoring the Mirfield Show!

Superfast West Yorkshire and York is excited to announce our attendance and sponsorship at this year’s Mirfield Agricultural Show on Sunday, 20th August. In conjunction with Riva Homes, Mirfield, we have signed-up to be one of the key sponsors.

We’ll be there on the day, soaking-up the atmosphere and hopefully a few rays as well, as we chat with local residents about their broadband needs.

This annual show, held at the town’s Huddersfield Road Showground, regularly attracts over 6,000 visitors each year.

The Mirfield Agricultural Show is one of the best attended and respected family days out in West Yorkshire. Its roots are in the traditional Yorkshire agricultural show, its programme of events embraces the whole family including children, grandparents and family pets – it boasts to be a pet friendly show!

It showcases a wide variety of traditional …and modern events, attracting families from Mirfield, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Kirklees, Calderdale and the rest of Yorkshire. Children admitted free of charge.
